Something about Joseph Capriati:
Joseph Capriati begins 2011 in the enviable position of being exactly where he wants to be. Well documented as one of the brightest new stars in techno, 2010 was the year when Capriati’s natural talent and huge potential blossomed; reinforcing the momentum which has been driving the 23 year old Neapolitan’s career forward at an unrelenting pace since he made his production debut in 2007. Starting 2010 with his remixes of Adam Beyer’s seminal ‘Remainings III’, fans have been spoilt with a steady flow of landmark productions including the release of his debut album ‘Save My Soul’ on home town label Analytic Trail; his chart topping remix of Joey Beltram’s ‘Slice’ reissue; the marathon seven-track ‘Gashouder’ EP for Drumcode; and a debut on Richie Hawtin’s Plus 8 label via Joseph’s ‘Wope’ collaboration with Paco Osuna. It is then no wonder Joseph is content and ready for more success in 2011.

Born and raised in the southern Italian city of Caserta, less than 30km from Naples, it was natural for a young, music-loving Capriati to be drawn to the big city to fulfill his musical curiosity. Having grown up on a diet of early hip hop and classic house from the likes of Masters At Work and Todd Terry, Capriati bought his first DJ console at the tender age of 11; cutting his teeth playing to his friends in garages after school. It was not until he was old enough to attend his first techno party that his passion for techno over-shadowed his early musical influences and set in motion the journey that has taken him to the position he is in today. As Joseph himself remembers, “the first time I heard techno was at Old River Park in Naples in 2003. It was a 12 hours party with Dave Clarke, Billy Nasty and Rino Cerrone. I was totally impressed by that sound and something in my mind changed.”

Inspired and energized, Joseph made the leap into production; slaving away on a home PC and hi-fi speakers, honing his skills for three years and eventually creating his first important records like C’est La Vie and Microbiotik which found their way on two of the most influential Neapolitan techno labels; Analytic Trail and Globox Records. From this moment on Joseph was made. What followed was an explosion in Joseph’s profile at home and abroad. Following his first high profile gig at Naples’s infamous 5000 capacity Golden Gate venue in October 2007, Joseph has not looked back; spreading his wings and travelling all over the globe. A highly attractive draw in Holland, Germany, Spain, Eastern Europe has meant regular appearances at Awakenings (Amsterdam), Berghain (Berlin), Row 14 (Barcelona), Cassette (Madrid), Forsage (Kiev), Escape Club (Sofia), Studio Martin (Bucharest) and many more. However, Joseph’s reach goes far beyond Europe. Already established in South America, Joseph has built a strong connection with the crowds at Crobar and Inferno in Argentina and Carnival, Forum and Der Zoo in Columbia. He has played the exclusive WIRE Festival in Tokyo and made guest appearances at Bar 13 and Dos Torres in New York. Not afraid to reach out to the frontiers of electronic music, Joseph has travelled to the less well know techno hotspots like South Africa, Mauritius and Honduras where he has enjoyed some of his most memorable gigs; proud to be part of the development of these emerging scenes.

This clear and decisive change of approach is key to Capriati’s success. Quick to understand the professionalism and determination required in order to carve out a career for himself; Joseph’s passion and conviction is plain to see in the way he has gone about making and playing music. Whether it be having the confidence to release a debut album containing ambient tracks and Drum & Bass; or the discipline and creative freedom displayed to convinced Adam Beyer to release two multiple-track EP’s on his Drumcode label; or the versatility and insightfulness that characterizes Josephs DJ sets and enables him to connect with crowds across Europe, South America, Asia, North America and South Africa. 2010 gig highlights have ranged from warming up Cocoon in Frankfurt with a pitch perfect mix of tech house through to upstaging the entire Drumcode Total event at Berghain in Berlin with an impromptu four-hour back-2-back set with Adam Beyer.

With his path laid out before him and the force of momentum behind him, Joseph Capriati welcomes 2011 with excited anticipation. “I just want to make music or play gigs everyday. It is the most important thing in my life. When I am in the studio or on stage I feel disconnected from the world and I enter another dimension where there is just the music, the people and myself. I could be sick, or be feeling sad about something, but when I’m playing I totally forget everything and this makes me happier. Looking at the people dancing and following my musical trip is an amazing thing. There is nothing better than this for me.” And so the future for Joseph Capriati is simple. Keep on doing what you love and do it with the passion and commitment that has proved so potent a driving force to this point. Confirmed future projects include a remix EP from Joseph’s Save My Soul album as well as more original productions on Drumcode; collaboration projects with exciting acts from the world of techno and a remix for Slam as part of the Soma 20th Anniversary project.

Something about Slam:
It's a familiar fable. A story that spans three decades and three generations. Their elasticated bass tones have touched the lives of everyone in Scotland's biggest city. They are the devilish duo responsible for Glasgow's techno city. Ex-NME hack, Channel 4's Stuart Cosgrove, might be spouting a load of old techno bollocks, but he is just one such infamous Scot who has been influenced by DJ Stuart McMillan and Orde Meikle's twisted funk.

Wherever you drink, wherever you work, where ever you dance; every teen to thirty something has raved and craved Slam at the Arches. They are the dirty disco duo who form part of the cultural fabric of Glasgow's clubbing society. It's their sound that permeates every creative walk of life from marketing offices to bars, design companies to the city's restaurants, art institutions to hairdressers. Each month Slam DJ to 2500 people and to 25,000 people in July, that's 55,000 people a year in Scotland alone. Ask around the city and most people will have had a life changing moment at Slam at the Arches. This is the sound of Glasgow and Slam made it. Lock up your children.

Slam came together over ten year’s ago. Their longevity is a result of a traditional punk ethic where Manager, Dave Clarke, is the invisible third member of the band. The three of them share a passion for music and a debauched past which started with soul weekenders, punk and reggae through to The Clash and early acid-house at the Sub Club. By the late '80s Slam had already taken the baton. Acid house exploded in Scotland with the legendary Slam at Tin Pan Ally. "For most people," Orde remembers, "Slam was their first clubbing experience." Soon after, in 1989, full of acid house enthusiasm, Slam produced the City's first all-night rave. Stuart claims this was the seed that sprouted the Slam family tree. "We literally caused havoc in the streets. There were coaches from the Hacienda, 808 State playing live and thousands of people unable to get in. The police had to shut the streets off."

It turned out to be the best marketing campaign ever done. Posters dotted around Glasgow simply stated '3 Weeks To Go' counting down to '2 Weeks To Go' the following week. The whole city was hooked and farfetched press stories started ruminating that the aliens were coming. They weren't far wrong, as every young potential clubber-to-be was gagging to lose their acid house virginity. "We didn't realise at the time that having too many people wanting to come to an event was the best thing that could happen to you. We didn't know how to manage it back then. We thought that everyone was going to hate us for not getting in." The following day Stuart McMillan and Dave Clarke went to Ibiza and the Slam scandal exploded.
The next ten years saw the team fire ahead relentlessly with regular nights all over the city, including most memorably Slam at the Arches through to the present day's Freelance Science and Pressure. It's no surprise, that with a premiere roster of big name DJs, Slam are the only choice to produce Scotland's largest outdoor pavilion at the annual T-In The Park for 25,000 hedonistic revelers.

Something about Alex Under:
The deepest meaning of ‘collage’, defined by Max Ernst, is the general application of Arthur Rimabaud’s ‘delirium’: “I accustomed myself to simple hallucination; I saw quite deliberately a mosque instead of a factory, a drummer's school conducted by angels, carriages on the highways of the sky, a salon at the bottom of a lake: monsters, mysteries, a vaudeville poster raising horrors before my eyes”. We could describe collage as an alchemic compound of two or more heterogeneous elements, derivate by their unexpected approximation generated deliberately by the search of systematic confusion and distorted perception.

That’s Alex Unders' musical universe. Based in Madrid, this producer is the ‘CMYK’ label manager. He is also one of the men behind ‘Apnea’ and ‘Bemysheep’, and one of the founders of Net28 (the net behind these labels and others like ‘Cyclical Tracks’ and ‘Pulpa’).

Something about Marc Romboy:
Mr. Marc Romboy knows what’s up! Being in the music biz for over a decade, co-founding and building up internationally respected dance-music labels and projects, Marc never got tired of coming up with fresh and innovative ideas in order to push the limits of electronic sounds.

Out of the dungeons of Moenchengladbach, Germany the thirty-something pulls the strings and makes things happen. His recent and most successful move definitely was to give birth to the already well established electro/house imprint Systematic in 2004 in Berlin which is a platform for his own productions as well as for hot and upcoming talents. Electronic house music with a certain breakdance appeal, reminiscent of old school Chicago dance floor insanity is Romboy’s true passion, when it comes to deejaying, producing and making decisions as the Systematic commander!

So far for the label he has collaborated with such high profiled artists as Booka Shade or Blake Baxter and signed tracks and mixes from producers like Martin Landsky, John Dahlbaeck, Olaf Poszgay, Phonique, Jence and Abysm. After only a couple of releases Romboy already managed to put his own stamp on the international club scene as a label-manager and a producer. Surely he’ll do the same as a DJ too. Nothing can stop this Teutonic boogie machine!

Something about Umek:
The industrial designed K4 club in the basement of Student’s Union HQ in the centre of Ljubljana is still considered to be Umek’s resident club, although he’s not an official resident deejay anymore. But since his most loyal fans are still gathering there, K4 represented the playground for testing new productions, concepts and sounds. "It’s where everything started. This is the place where I’ve got in touch with first Slovenian electronic projects such as Anna Lies, Clox or Random Logic. Some of those guys were and still are important part of my life. It was Jure Havlicek who ultimately influenced my decision to get involved in professional music production. Gregor Zemljic is mastering all of my tracks. And I’ve founded my first band Mouse Trap with Uros and Vid, who have opened my eyes and ears to this culture.”

It was his friend’s Uros home where Umek got in touch with UK based pirate radio stations such as Green Apple/Dance Nation. "We picked up this programs via satellite dish. They played hardcore, breakbeat and techno non stop at the weekend, and even though we were recording it, we never left the house so we would not miss anything!” His friend was also the one who introduced him the Screen Tracker. "It was the very basic 8-bit resolution production tool with four mono channels, but that’s how everything started. After I’ve finally managed to save enough money to buy proper sampler, the outside world ceased to exist. I’ve became totally obsessed with that box. I’ve spent up to sixteen hours a day working on that machine."

Something about Psycatron:
In 2008 they'd became the first Irish act to appear on Carl Craig's Detroit based Planet E Communications. 'Deeper Shades Of Black' was and still is a Berghain anthem that became one of the label's biggest selling tracks and turned heads the world over on to this relatively unknown duo. Showcasing a sound that stands head and shoulders above the sea of mediocrity that exists in electronic music today, Psycatron releases are keepers. Tracks that will still deliver in 10 years time when the whole thing has gone full circle for the nth time. They've since delivered two more releases for Planet E with 'She Is Music' calling in the talents of Detroit hero Blake Baxter on vocals, while they further consolidated their long term relationship with the label when Carl Craig invited them to perform on the Planet E 20th Anniversary Tour, with label showcases at Berghain and in London all lined up for 2011.

Psycatron's ability to deliver timeless classics was further illustrated when legendary Belgian imprint R&S picked up 'Is What It Is', a pulsating melodic anthem that had 'end-of-night' written all over it and had the likes of Francois K scrambling to sign it for an exclusive mix compilation and amazing feedback coming in from Ewan Pearson to Sasha, Digweed and Derrick May, while Psycatron ended up on a roster of artists at R&S that begins with Aphex Twin and has Joey Beltram and Model 500 among it's ranks.

With two huge releases under their belts for two of the world's most well respected labels, it wasn't long before the remix offers came flooding in. Unkle, Secret Cinema, Alex Long, Vince Watson, The Psychonauts, Blake Baxter, Jamie Anderson & Jerome are among the many high profile names to have undergone the Psycatron treatment. By the end of 2009 they had Depeche Mode's Martin L Gore listing them as one of his favourite producers, they had tracks featured on the Essential Mix two weeks running and had interest coming in from all over the globe and gig offers racking up.

Throughout 2010 they appeared at some mammoth electronic festivals, from Detroit (Movement/DEMF) to the Amsterdam Dance Event for Dave Clarke's Annual White Noise bash at the Melkweg, while everywhere from Tresor in Berlin to the Rex Club in Paris hosted slightly more intimate club shows. On the release front they deliver 4 EP's and 5 remixes, including the follow up to 2009's 'Directions'/'Tipping Point' double-header for Christian Smith's supercool Tronic imprint with 'Celestial Symphony' marking their second release for the label.

Their increasingly popular Electronic Avenue Podcast hit it's first 10000 subscribers as the year drew to a close, while their mixes also appeared on WhiteNoise with Dave Clarke and John Digweed's Transitions which is broadcast to 42 countries globally. They rounded off the year with two collaborations, 'Thunder' and 'Cloud 9' (alongside Paul Woolford) was picked up and released by Sven Vath for his Frankfurt based Cocoon imprint, it featured as an Essential New Tune Contender on Pete Tong's BBC Radio 1 Essential Selection for two weeks running and closed Cocoon's 2010 release schedule with a bang.

2011 is set-up nicely with remixes of 'She Is Music' dropping on Planet E, an ep alongside fellow Irish producer Sian entitled 'Vertigo Of The Modern' appearing on John Digweed's Bedrock and further EP's on the way for Tresor in Berlin and Skryptom from Paris. A second critically acclaimed Transitions mix for John Digweed, podcasts for Data Transmission and Ibiza Voice and appearances on the like of Marc Romboy's Systematic Radio should ensure Psycatron's year continues where the last one left off. The UK, Ireland, France, Germany, Australia, South America and the Netherlands are all set to play host to the guys over the coming few months while they also settle in to the eight year of their residency at Irish institutions Shine and the Stiff Kitten where they've built a fiercely loyal local following and supported everyone from Sasha and Digweed to Carl Cox, Adam Beyer, Dubfire and Simian Mobile Disco.

Two years worth of consistently well-received productions alongside high-profile club and festival appearances has seen Psycatron stock rise considerably around the world and with 2011 off to a flying start, there are exciting times ahead.

Something about Layo & Bushwacka:
Their End residency, known as All Night Long, became one of the capital’s most revered nights with Layo & Bushwacka! taking the club through an edifying tour-de-force of electronic music. The night gave birth to their second mix album ‘All Night Long’, following the success of their first ‘The End’ in conjunction with Mr C, also released on XL Recordings, in the late 90s. The album was a perfect reflection of their DJ sets, inspirational, educational and all encompassing it slaloms through all manner of house music and even their own reworks of such timeless classics as Bebel Gilberto’s ‘So Nice’ and Sly & The Family Stone’s ‘Dance To The Music’, all without missing a beat.

The expansive musical tastes demonstrated on ‘All Night Long’ came together perfectly with the release of their third artist album, ‘Feels Closer’, in February 2006. Released on their newly launched label, Olmeto Records, ‘Feels Closer’ saw them broaden their sonic palette with the addition of live musicians, including legendary percussionist Mino Cineleu, on a record that unites their myriad of influences without ever losing sight of their electronic background and home territory. Highlights of the record include Green Velvet’s vocal turn on the electrifying electro-techno of ‘Life 2 Live’, the warm downtempo of ‘Sunshine in Ipanema’, featuring the talents of Brasilian legend Rogerio Flausino, and the jaw-droppingly incredible ‘Isn’t This A Lovely Day’, for which the boys fuse vocals from Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong with some killer live percussion. The album was again highly critically acclaimed and cemented their reputations among dance music’s most gifted.

Since the release of the album, their label Olmeto has gone from strength to strength, releasing a consistent stream of choice nuggets from the album, with exclusive remixes and B sides. The impressive roster of remixers has included the likes of Loco Dice, Jesse Rose, Green Velvet and UNKLE. Bushwacka! has also released some fantastic solo 12”s on the label, and as time goes on Olmeto will continue to provide an exclusive outlet for Layo and Matthew’s creativity. Olmeto’s monthly residency at The End, which has taken the place of the All Night Long residency, sees Layo & Bushwacka! continue to play extended and far reaching sets of electronica in the main room, whilst their impeccable programming has seen them bring in two of dance music’s most promising labels Simple Records and Freerange to provide music for The End’s second room and sister bar AKA at the Olmeto nights.

The most recent addition to Layo & Bushwacka!’s catalogue is their mix album, Global Underground 33: Rio. Born out of the ongoing love story between the duo and their second home of Brasil, Layo and Matthew have a unique and unshakeable relationship with the world’s most effervescent nation. Disc one sees the boys scour their record collections, revisiting gems from the past twenty years, flowing through the music that helped shape the DJs they’ve become, whilst disc two represents the new wave of electronic music with a track listing that includes the most dynamic producers in dance music today.

Layo & Bushwacka!’s reputation as two of the world’s foremost DJ duos is rock solid. Three artist albums have proven them remarkably talented producers, capable of mixing styles, tempos and genres to create enduring and engaging electronic music. Their trio of mix albums and international club residencies have shown they are masters of the turntables, sonic connoisseurs who can guide a dance floor on an epic journey through the many facets of their sound. Their label Olmeto meanwhile has become a bastion for quality, a label that, much like its figureheads, has become a rubber stamped seal of class.

This ability within his musical sphere has pricked the interest of global artists like Mark Knight, John Acquaviva and Feddle Le Grand who have all requested his studio talents, whilst leading Beatport to bestow him the award of ‘Best Remixer 2011’, a suitable follow up on his nomination for ‘Best Deep House and Techno Artist’ back in 2010.

With his music growing in stature on ever release, the demand with his bookings has not been far behind. Already a familiar face at global venues like Ministry of Sound in London, Womb in Tokyo and Fabrik in Madrid, Manuel has managed to procure a global fan base that has enabled him to perform his music throughout Europe, Asia, Middle East, Africa, as well as North and South America.
His sound stretches somewhere between house and techno, whilst respectfully treading the line between commercial and credible underground. It is this quality which has led to him having already amassed label credits with some of the scenes finest imprints; Universal, Toolroom, Ministry of Sound and Stealth.
The strength of his own recording label, which he runs with Alex Kenji and Luigi Rocca, is a testament to his intelligent foresight within his music. In a little under five years, 303Lovers and Hotfingers have both respectively find themselves being earmarked by major players like Richie Hawtin, Mark Knight, John Acquaviva, UMEK and Tiësto, Pete Tong, Bob Sinclar, Roger Sanchez, Axwell, David Guetta as a solid source of good quality electronic music.

Something about Adam Beyer:
Adam Beyer became dedicated to the fascinating world of rhythm early on. After playing the drums as a teenager his obsession turned to the decks. In 1990 he bought his first set of turntables and started spinning a wide range of hiphop, hiphouse, acid and techno at local parties and clubs. Beyer soon learned how to blend his sets in a thoughtfull and highly focused way, a talent that has now developed into his trademark style. In 92 Fellow school friend Peter Benisch introduced Beyer to the sampler , a year later they got their first record deal with New York based Direct Drive. After finishing school in 1995, Beyer started work at the Planet Rhythm record store while releasing some tracks under a variety of names and continually djing all over Scandinavia.

Adam Beyer sites Drumcodes 1 (Planet Rhythm 1995) as the first record to define his style; hard, percussive and loop oriented. This 12" names Beyer´s future label and was soon followed by his critically acclaimed debut album Decoded (Planet Rhythm 1996). His need to create the perfect dj tool gave rise to the launch of the Drumcode label allowing him total musical freedom. The label´s strong concept and high production levels meant it enjoyed immediate success. After six releases Beyer launched his second label Code Red focusing on a slightly softer side of techno. Code Red finished with its 10 th and final release Stand Down (Code Red 1999) which was a compilation of remixes from various international artists.

His production skills soon brought Beyer to the attention of djs worldwide and global bookings soon followed. His meteoric rise has been cited as one of the catalysts for Swedish techno´s current influence. He pinpoints the Stockholm sound as being closely linked to his network of friends in the city aswell as the triumvirate of himself, Joel Mull and Cari Lekebusch. After many releases and remixes on various labels he launched the second album Protechtion (Drumcode 1999). While the market was being flooded with monoton loop oriented techno Beyer worked on strengthening the arrangements that characterised his earlier works, aswell as adding melodic strings. Still with a clear focus on the dance floor.

The same year Adam Beyer and Cari Lekebusch linked up to create a stunning live act first witnessed in London to instant acclaim. The act created the intense feeling of a creative dj set while the duo played back to back mixing their production styles.

Something about Carl Cox:
Out of so many highs it is difficult to pin-point the peak for me - it is a close call between The Love Parade and the dawn of the millennium. Playing for a crowd of 1,500,00 up-for-it clubbers in Berlin was the ultimate DJing experience in terms of seeing how wide reaching music can be but then being lucky enough to see in the millennium not once but twice - first on Bondi pavilion, then hopping on a jet over the timeline to Honolulu, Hawaii, was also pretty special.

More recently I have given up my residency at Base in order to concentrate on spreading myself even further afield. But don't worry, in between producing, writing, remixing, presenting, TV appearances, managing, not forgetting DJing I will still be making regular appearances at Base and hanging with the very people who got me where I am today.

Something about Electrorites:
Luca Pagani, aka Electrorites, whose real name is Luca Vollaro, was born in Pordenone in 1977.
The rhythm of his father’s records was the background of his childhood; then things got serious when he found himself in front of his first consolle and an irrepressible musical passion took over.
His orientation was progressive, as interpreted by the Tuscan movement, which took of in the Nineties. Public acclaim came in 1994, when he won an international DJ competition organized by a well-known club in Udine, which, given the success of the young DJ, asked him to continue to perform. Around that time he became a member of the staff of Radio SuperNetwork, at first as a mixing desk technician and then with his own program in which he proposed the latest innovations of his genre. Meanwhile he continued to perform in clubs all over Friuli, keeping in close contact with the public.
In 1996 he left the radio and joined the famous “Prima Scelta” Agency for DJs in Padua, managed by Donatello, the well-known PR of the Syncopate Party ; he began collaborating with the MMADESS Agency and his range of action extended over the entire Triveneto area.
Experience led his style to evolve, from progressive to electronic, until he arrived at a techno sound, without however being chained to a particular genre, demonstrating rather a vocation for free and open musical inspiration, fed always and in any case by experimentation.
His first release was Dark Frequency (Mantra Vibes) in 2005, in collaboration with the DJ Mreux.
Where Luca Pagani, aka Electrorites has played:
…Area City (Area Venezia), Il Muretto, Arancia Meccanica, Kursaal Club, City Hall, Royal City, Mithos, Vanilla, Ecu, Shany, Empire, Liquid, Mr. Charlie, Magis Club, Papillon, Tio Disco, Medea… and many more.
Luca Pagani aka Electrorites has now founded his first record label, Shout Records... now with more than 30 artists and 40 releases, whereas he collaborates with Gynoid Audio, Elektrax, Herzschlag Recordings, We call It Hard, Freitag and other undrground techno labels.

Something about Alan Fitzpatrick:
It has been Alan's partnership with Adam Beyer's Drumcode label that has produced his most significant work to date; releasing three chart topping EP's (Static, Face Of Rejection, Insurgent Series) on the label in addition to his ‘Shadows In The Dark’ LP and being one of a select handful of producers invited to remix Beyer's classic Remainings III. Elsewhere, Fitzpatrick’s studio services have been recruited by the likes of John Digweed & Nick Muir, Slam, Joey Beltram, John Digweed, Dustin Zahn & Joel Mull and Pascal Mollin. Indeed, such has been Fitzpatrick’s dominance of the techno scene in the last eighteen months that his productions have regularly filled the top positions of Beatport’s techno Top 100 chart at the same time.

The same unstoppable momentum has come to characterize Alan's style of techno; powering demand for his music worldwide, and filling his gig diary with weekends spent touring all over Europe as he completes the transition from being a highly regarded newcomer to a bonafide member of techno's producer vanguard. Focusing on his trademark sound of tough, hooky grooves and incendiary beats, An intuitive and dynamic exponent with Native Instrument's Traktor software, his big-room techno sound has seen him draw crowds in Germany (Berghain, Cocoon, U60311, Maria Ostbahnof), France (Rex, Inox, Le 25, S’Kandalo) The Netherlands (Awakenings, Paradiso, Catwalk, Doornroosje, Poema), UK (Fabric, The Arches) Italy (Old River Park, Rasmonan), Switzerland (La Zoo, D-Club, Das Schiff) and Eastern Europe (Kiwi Lithuania, Forsage Ukraine) plus key festivals like Kazantip Ukraine, Streetparade Zurich, SW4 London, Boom Portugal and Sziget Hungary.

Already well passed the landmark of 25 releases, Alan Fitzpatrick’s 8 Sided Dice Recordings label keeps on pushing forward as one of the most exciting new techno labels to emerge in recent times. Established as both an attractive home to high profile artists and a outlet for emerging talent the labels output continues to strike a balance between original tracks and remixes from Alan himself, as well as featuring productions from Cari Lekebusch, Slam, Heiko Laux, Gene Le Fosse, Dustin Zahn, Sasha Caressi, Harvey McKay, Nicole Moudaber, Rich Jones, and Chris Colburn.

Biography of Heron:
Many times, biographies of techno acts start by singing their praise of an extremely early, extraordinary talent on synthesizers and other electronic devices. In Heron’s case, things are different: Because Martin Spittel has been shaped musically since his childhood, the influences were as diverse as music can be. On one side, there was his grandfather, who played various instruments, and to whom young Martin related closest to and whose influence still lasts until today. On the other side there were his cousins who were not much older than himself, enthusiastic about AC/DC, and band members themselves. Over the course of the following years, he explored the diversity of Black, Death and Trash Metal, EBM and Industrial, right up to Detroit Techno.

Ever since then, Heron's environment served as compensation to fierce parties and expanding his musical horizon. This symbiosis from the love of nature and the musical influences from his early childhood are a direct reflection of Heron’s entire life. Following the scream of the waders (limicoline birds), he moved to picturesque island Norderney in 2005. There, exploring the island’s national park, he decided to live up to his enthusiasm about nature by going to study landscape ecology at the University of Münster. It turned out: The relocation to Münster was the initial spark for his career; the months in Norderney were inspiration for the name of his label “Limikola” which was founded in late 2008 and now enjoys enormous support by both DJs and fans.

After launching his now very successful °Schaltkreis-parties with four friends in mid-2007, everything went quickly: His first own radio show “The Grasshopper Warbler”, contacts to prominent players like Someone Else and Heartthrob, and finally the moment in early 2008 during the season’s opening at Time Warp, when Richie Hawtin played all three tracks from Heron’s Retro EP. It was merely his second EP, released on a netlabel (Minisome), and it became immediately successful. A knightly accolade. The two have been in touch regularly since.

The journey that Heron started lead to his bombshell track “Welcome to the Adventure Club” that charted in the Beatport charts in 2008, and continued with remixes and releases for Synewave, Supdub, Swap, micro.fon, Prosthetic Pressings and Sleaze Records. In 2010, it culminated with a tour across North America during the summer.

In 2011 his label Limikola started getting bigger - including a huge support by remixers like Troy Pierce, Heartthrob, Miro Pajic and lots of more.

Besides this project other ideas grew up, the focus on his old school roots got more and more strong. With remixes for Damon Wild's Techno classic "Avion", Tim Grothe and Ziel100 he showed the crowd where he comes from.

Upcoming releases on DJ Pierre's label Afro Acid - Chicago's Acid House legend - , Hans Bouffmyhre's label Sleaze are already on the schedule - and much more stuff is coming up ...

Something about Alex Bau:
Is it related to the fact that there has been a time before Techno for Alex Bau? Thousands of records in his collection, different styles, different music, for sure something that leaves its marks, no doubt about it. Still he is doing Depeche Mode-Nights from time to time, just for fun, and his activities on Techno doesn`t really suffer from that, not at all! With his 5 or even more hours sets at his first resident club in his southeastbavarian homearea, the „Libella“, where for example also DJ Hell started his career back in the 80ies, he achieved the reputation as somebody who is totally aware of what he is doing, totally dedicated to it and also totally loving it. He had his own radioshow for over 2 years on a local radiostation, still so far the only technoshow in this area, but after countless gigs at the local clubs time was right to proof that he is also able to play at other places all around. Especially the productions together with his friend Sven Dedek, mainly released under their moniker „Basic Implant“ or „Electric Envoy“ on labels like the at this time starting „Fine Audio Recordings“ from Chris Liebing have hit the technofloors in a very impressive way, so that he was able to collect also international experiences behind the decks while Sven was playing live. Releases like the „Phase Edit EP“, a highly acclaimed and well sold rework of some Nitzer Ebb EBM Classics, or their work for Dave Angel`s "Rotation", Justin Berkovi`s "Predicaments" or Pascal FEOS` "PV-Records" enabled the guys to reach a much bigger audience. Finally, after numerous releases for different labels beside his own label “Toneman”, Alex released his debut-album “Connected” in late 2004, which immediately draw the attention of many high class DJ`s like Chris Liebing, Pascal FEOS or Good Groove to name just a few. The fact that these artists, all standing for a different kind of style, grabbed the tracks from “Connected” constantly shows that the name of the album couldn`t have been chosen in a better way.

With starting his own label „Toneman“ back in 2000 Alex Bau also started to his soloproductions for labels like Chris Liebing`s “CLR” or the Montreal based label "Default Recordings". Montreal can be understood as a kind of scale of Alex` DJ-activities too! Within 3 years he has been booked to Montreal four times, his set from the legendary night at “Aria” from january 2006 was even released as a mix-cd “live at Aria / Montreal” so that Alex came back months later to perform on the releaseparty, once again a night to remember for the Montreal technomovement. At this time Alex was already booked as the headliner, and its reported by numerous mails and guestbook-entries that it was not a mistake to do so. Maybe also as a small, unconscious “thank you”, but mainly due to a very inspirational night he spent in Halifax, where he flew over to Canada for just one night, he declared an EP as the “C.A.N.A.D.A. EP”, which was released on CLR in late 2007 and received overwhelming feedback from all over the globe. People desrcibed the tracks “Summer in Moncton” and “Halifax Funk” as masterpieces of contemporary technomusic which seperates positively from the rest, mainly dominated by minimal clicks and cuts.

Something about Tom Hades:
Tom Hades started to discover and experiment with electronic music when listening to DAF, Kraftwerk, Front 242, ... At the age of 15, he bought his first keyboard, the famous Casio CZ-101 and transformed his game-computer, Amiga 500, into his first DAW. Quickly he got experienced with MIDI-integration and sampling functions, which gave him even more urge for buying/selling new material as addition to his current setup. During the same period, his old schoolfriend, RedHead, was co-producing with Marco Bailey. He got in contact with Marco too which led them in 2000 to their first co-release. And this was the start of a big period of releases, included the anthem of "I Love Techno" in 2001. Have a look at the discography for the complete overview ... In the same year as I Love Techno, Tom started to do live performances. He got more & more experienced and started to play all over the world. His live performance was fully appreciated in countries like Spain, Colombia, Brazil, France, Poland, Sweden, Mexico, Japan, Austria, Italy, Norway, Ireland, ... and on many known festivals like Nature One, I Love Techno, City Parade, ... In the first period of 2002, Tom also produced his first solo release. In the next 3-4 years he continued to produce tracks on his own as well as his co-production with Marco on respected labels like MB Elektronics, Pornographic Recordings, Rhythm Convert, Northwest Dynamics, Invasion, Fine Audio, Patterns, Lupp, ... In 2004, they decided it was time to take the next step, start a label. And so Rhythm Convert was born. Initially, the purpose of the label was to give an opportunity to new talents to release their stuff. Guys like Axel Karakasis, Spiros Kaloumenos, Veztax, ... did a very good job to show the people what is was all about. Nowadays, the label is more aimed to produce electro-techno tracks and less oriented towards loopy techno sounds. End 2004, they released their full album, Rude Boy, caused a stirr all over the world. The best proof was their live performance during Nature One @ Pydna were they literally "blew the place to kingdom come" ! His current releases on labels like MB Elektronics & Rhythm Convert are oriented in the same way his musical taste changes, more melodic and even sometimes more dramatic music with flavors of techno, minimal, tekhouse and electro. Nowadays, Tom is busy at concentrating in his next step, to develop his "dj-career". In the near future, you can expect dj-sets with dedication and filled with energy, as known from his live-sets, to give his fans the pleasure of clubbing ! But as every self-respected artist, he will never forget his roots, so live-sets will still be part of his main occupation ! In the means of productions, future releases will certainly be done, as well as a second album together with Marco. So keep your eyes open on some new productions, because they will certainly surprise lots of people !!!

Biography of Cassy:
Catherine Britton aka Cassy left England for Austria with her Caribbean father and Austrian mother in 1975. She spent her childhood in Vienna and Lower Austria learning to sing and studying music at an early age. After studying drama and acting in London for three years she returned to her hometown of Vienna and began working in the theatre. But she soon gave up acting when she realised she couldn't stand the profession.

Her first professional step into the electronic music world was as a vocalist for Elin aka Autorepeat on 'Music Takes Me Higher' on Sabotage Records. Electric Indigo was able to convince Cassy to not only involve herself as a singer but to learn how to mix records. After her first DJ gig in Vienna, Munich and further productions she met Dave the Hustler in Geneva where they started working on a collaborative project for Mental Groove, Cassy & Dave the Hustler. Geneva was also where she met Luciano, co-producing 'La Ondita' on his album 'Blind Behaviour'. She also co-produced 'Alpine Rocket' with Mathew Jonson for Perlon.

After moving to Berlin in 2003 and being inspired by the club scene and music, she worked with artists such as Ricardo Villalobos and Steve Bug and has also had releases on Perlon Records. Recently she started her own label Cassy, She regularly spins at the Panoramabar in Berlin.

Episode 011 comes from a very special guest who will be headlining our 9th Anniversary celebration this year. Catherine Britton, also known as Cassy, gained much of her popularity as resident of the über cool Panorama Bar in Berlin. Her releases on seminal labels such as Perlon and Cocoon have also aided in her success and provided her with a busy tour schedule with key stops in places like Ibiza for the Circoloco and Cocoon parties. Her sultry, deep sound is a perfect fit for the confines of Cielo and we look forward to welcoming her for the anniversary. Episode 011 will be broken into two parts so stay tuned…
