Biography of Kabale Und Liebe: While Amsterdam is rising to fame as a hotbed for young techno talent, one of its greatest new ambassadors is gaining grounds accordingly. Not only has Kabale und Liebe – amongst other smashing releases – produced one of the greatest clubhits of the decade. He is currently sweeping dancefloors across Europe with his compelling live and dj performances. Blending the old with the new and the minimalistic with the soulful, Kabale und Liebe has created a sound that appeals to technofreaks and househeads alike, his growing popularity marking a new era of approach between the two scenes.
Kabale und Liebe – or Liron van Daalen, as his parents dubbed him – is exemplary of a new school generation, that studied electronic music and production techniques since early childhood, reaching musical adolescence in their teens. At the tender age of twelve, Kabale und Liebe already dreamed of being a professional dj, spending most of his time and all of his allowance on gear and vinyl. During his teens, he played frequently at clubs across the Netherlands. When he debuted as a producer at age twenty-three, he already had the experience and the record collection of a seasoned jock, and a musical taste as ripe as a piece of old Dutch cheese.
Only a year after his first releases on Meerestief and Archipel, Kabale und Liebe had his first big hit with Mumbling Yeah. It shot up the charts in 2007. Resident Advisor even voted Mumbling Yeah ‘track of the year’. That same year Kabale und Liebe joined forces with Quazar, Lauhaus, Boris Werner, Julien Chaptal and David Labeij to bring Amsterdam 661, a super group live formation made up of Holland's finest, bringing a unique and captivating live jam session on six machines, but with only one aim: to thoroughly rock the crowd. In the meantime, Amsterdam 661 has rocked some of the best dancefloors in Europe. As for Kabale und Liebe, his feel for the dancefloor has kept him internationally in demand as a live-act and a dj.
Since 2007 Kabale und Liebe has found himself amidst a whirlwind of international media attention, festival bookings and remix requests. Signed to Remote Area and 100 % Pure, he became the bright new star of Amsterdam’s thriving New School scene. Quite the pressure for a guy in his mid twenties. But he has kept his head straight and proven to be much more than just a one-hit wonder. Tracks like Makake (2008), Miami Nice (2008), Una y Nada and Hotpants (2009) and his latest Since You looked into my Eyes (2010), all show a profound mastery of the studio, a deep understanding of the dancefloor and a knack for catchy tunes. Not to mention the growing list of ace remixes for labels like Rush Hour, Great Stuff and Strictly Rhythem.
To further express their musical vision, Kabale und Liebe and fellow-New Schooler Lauhaus decided to set up Soweso. The label is meant to cater for upcoming as well as established artists in the rapidly growing house-techno crossover scene. Local talents like Makam, William Kouam Djoko and Tom Ruijg as well as Ali Nasser, DJ W!LD and Chris Carrier are already signed, with the label bosses providing the occasional remix. “It’s not so much about pushing ourselves forward,” Kabale explains. “Our main objective is to support the music we believe in, and to add something substantial to the world of electronic music.” Something Kabale und Liebe has been doing quite convincingly for the last three years and will continue doing for as long as he can help it.
Biography of Lauhaus:
Lauhaus is an Amsterdam based dj/producer who has been active in the Dutch techno scene for 10 years now. Late 2004 Lauhaus started the “Polder” project together with David Labeij, which hasn’t been without succes. April 2008 their first album is released on Shindoe’s Intacto label. Next to this he is also one of the members of the 6 men laptop collective “Amsterdam 661” (other members: David Labeij, Kabale und Liebe, Julien Chaptal, Quazar MG and Boris Werner).
Dj-ing and playing live with Polder and Amsterdam 661 resulted in gigs at Awakenings Festival, Voltt, Panoramabar, Lowlands, Mondo Madrid, 5 days off and many more..
Next to this Lauhaus is also host and organiser of the Mono parties in the 11, Traffic nights in the Melkweg and Mr.Stubnitz at the MS Stubnitz.

Something about Joris Voorn: In 2008, following the success of his resident advisor podcast, Joris was invited to produce episode 14 of the Balance DJ mix CD series from Australia. An accompanying world tour will follow where Joris will bring the essence of this studio project to the stage, using all different elements of the mix into a full range club experience.
Having established himself as a leading producer and DJ, Joris will be embarking on a new project called 'A green night'. Something about Dubfire:
It was a risk. Perhaps even a gamble. But whatever it was, Ali ‘Dubfire’ Shirazinia's decision to go solo in 2005 was anything but easy. Together with Sharam Tayebi he had conquered house music under the name Deep Dish, a partnership which began in 1991 in Washington DC. On their way to the top, Deep Dish released acclaimed dance classics beginning with the 1995 remix of De'Lacy 'Hideaway', and went on to work with an eclectic array of names in pop, rock and electronica. Together they won a Grammy, among many other high-profile awards, and became one of the most respected DJ acts in the world.
Having firmly established the reputation of Deep Dish as pioneers amongst the greats of electronic music, no one would have blamed Dubfire for resting on his laurels. But despite the odds and dance music history being stacked against him, he decided to go it alone. Dubfire’s first solo release was a remake of the 1989 Love And Rocket’s classic ‘I Feel Speed’. The track symbolically and sonically marked a crossroads in Shirazinia’s music career, fusing Deep Dish’s vocal-driven progressive house with darker, edgier sounds. Dubfire continued to quietly release a string of remarkable tracks, and in 2007 he founded SCI+TEC Digital Audio as an outlet to release his new music, much of which was inspired by his musical roots - a kaleidoscope of influences that spanned punk, new wave, industrial, dub, hip hop, house and techno.

Dubfire kept experimenting and evolving his sound. 2007’s electro-tech track ‘Raodkill’ edged Dubfire ever closer to a techno sensibility, while the stripped-back ‘Ribcage’ showed his appetite for exploring the cutting-edge. Soaked in minimal atmospherics, ‘Ribcage’ was the first ever release on Loco Dice’s much-heralded Desolat label, and it became an instant classic.
Something about Carlo Lio:
If music is the Universal language then Toronto Native, Carlo Lio is surely multilingual. It is this universal appeal that has allowed Carlo to speak to so many people without ever having to say a word. His ability to capture sounds and emit them so expressively is a gift. Music has always been a priority in Carlo’s life; anyone who witnesses him gracing the decks can attest to this. Carlo can turn a careful observer into a dancer through the raw emotion and passion in his music. Music is a language; it is a means of connectivity, intimacy and communication and Carlo has brilliantly captured and shared this with his fans.
As a DJ, producer: & businessman. His continued efforts both in and out of the booth have paid off. Teaming up with studio partner Nathan Barato to create Rawthentic Music, Carlo has been pounding out numerous quality hits which have received plenty of local & International support. His unique signature style that’s driven by a relentless, sexy, hypnotic, techy groove is sure to leave you mesmerized.

Carlo has so instinctively tapped into that ‘human experience’ that millions of club goers have sought after and has taken so many on a journey into sound. With his flawless and imaginative mixing and his mind-blowing programming, Carlo preaches a gospel of repetitive beats. His fast, deep pulsing tech-house, or groovy, chuggy minimal are inspirational and he credits his latest sound to his most current influences; Dubfire, Marco Carola, Carl Cox and Loco Dice.

Something about Loco Dice: If you’ve seen Loco Dice perform at his ten-year-long Tribehouse residency in his hometown Düsseldorf, or at DC- 10 in Ibiza (from ’02-’06), you will have clicked to this. Loco Dice is someone, who can puzzle together intangible moods with a direct approach.
Via his DJ sets or his productions on labels like M_nus, Cadenza, Ovum, Four Twenty and Cocoon, he merges perspectives in his delicate sense for sounds and reflective atmospheres, underpinned with solid, physical grooves inspired by the hip hop that was his early sonic stomping ground in the mid- to late ‘90s. There’s something there for the dreamers, as well as for the 9-to-5ers who just want to lose everything in a moment of abandon on the dancefloor.

Something about Carl Cox:   Out of so many highs it is difficult to pin-point the peak for me - it is a close call between The Love Parade and the dawn of the millennium. Playing for a crowd of 1,500,00 up-for-it clubbers in Berlin was the ultimate DJing experience in terms of seeing how wide reaching music can be but then being lucky enough to see in the millennium not once but twice - first on Bondi pavilion, then hopping on a jet over the timeline to Honolulu, Hawaii, was also pretty special.

More recently I have given up my residency at Base in order to concentrate on spreading myself even further afield. But don't worry, in between producing, writing, remixing, presenting, TV appearances, managing, not forgetting DJing I will still be making regular appearances at Base and hanging with the very people who got me where I am today.

Something about Troy Pierce: Growing up in Indiana, right by the electronic hotspots of Detroit and Chicago, it's no wonder Troy Pierce was infected with the dance music bug early on. Since then, he's developed into a pillar of the modern techno community thanks to world tours, live shows, albums and EPs under a number of aliases and as part of more than one studio collective.
The Troy Pierce sound is one which has constantly veered from dense, layered and abstract to stripped down, acid infused and pulsing. His sonic palette is one that draws on a wide array of influences and reaches far outside the confines of the studio and into an otherworld entirely. Fusing techno with minimalism, darkness with light and heaviness with rhythm, this American has never been afraid to experiment in the outer regions of his vast musical universe.
Something about Magda:  Magda is an artist who can never be pinned down, no matter the timeframe or time signature. Any one of the Detroit-raised artist's DJ sets or productions breeds a rare feel of mystique and discovery. "I'm really obsessed with finding a line between things - between sounds and between genres. My influences come from a life spent in very different environments, which plays a huge role in the way I connect with music."
Dramatic sounds and eccentric basslines carry her multilayered sound, which veers everywhere from funked-out space disco to the intricately-programmed, metallic feel of Detroit to stripped down techno, all the way to Italian horror film soundtracks. The only thing that remains consistent is the element of surprise.
Something about Marc Houle: Marc Houle grew up in Windsor, Canada with Detroit as his mid-90's backyard party playground - as a kid he had a love for obscure new wave & analog synths, so it was just a matter of time before he started making music of his own. Ask any of his friends, and they'll tell you the same: the guy is a prolific music-making-machinist, dedicated to quality, but quantity as well - with nearly 1,000 tracks to his credit (most of which are tucked away on his hard drive as super secret weapons).
Marc Houle's current sound can be described in cityscapes - somewhere between Chicago & Detroit, with a new-wave underbelly. His live performances are always diverse & genre-bending reigns supreme. No two sets are ever the same, except perhaps, their ability to impress the crowd.

Listen Online (techno-livesets):

There are those who imitate, and those who innovate: Romanian born, Berlin based producer Cosmin Nicolae is unquestionably the latter. At this point in time youll find him honing a ghostly, sketchy techno blueprint that fuses shuffling drums with eerie synths, snatched vocals-as-instruments and strains of Detroit and Chicago classicism. These analogue sounds arrive on labels like connoisseur Dutch imprint Rush Hour as well as Modeselektors 50 Weapons and Untolds hotter-than-hot Hemlock, but are a stylistic mile away from the sound with which the man first emerged.
Back in 2007, when known simply as TRG, a breakthrough came courtesy of Put You Down/Broken Hearts the track which launched Ramadanman, Panagea and Ben UFOs now much lauded label Hessle Audio. The ensuing years have seen Cosmins sound in a state of constant flux, ever shifting through previously undefined sonic territory.
Although they say certain styles of music are native to certain cities, this producer is proving otherwise in the way his music draws distant parallels with 90s Warp, naughties London and du jour Berlin imprints like Fachwerk. There is no template in mind he says of his idiosyncratic sounds, we all have our own little strategies, but for me its just about making it personal. A simple but effective approach, its one thats working wonders for Cosmin who is now found DJing everywhere from Fabric to Sonar to Berghain on any given weekend.
As well as a debut album is coming late August 2011 on 50 Weapons, the restless creatives live setup is also evolving, endeavouring to create an ever more immersive and unpredictable soundtrack in the club. Though impossible to pin down, theres a distinguished and distinguishable sonic personality about all to that which bares Cosmins name, and its that which makes him the essential electronic talent that he is.

Something about Kevin Saunderson and Derrick May: “Easily the most dexterous in the stable of Detroit techno pioneers, Kevin Saunderson recorded some of the hardest and most mechanistic techno to come out of the Motor City. He moved from Brooklyn to the D in his teens where he hooked up with two folks at high school who are now considered to be the originators of the Detroit techno sound: Derrick May and Juan Atkins. Initially bonding over sports, they later came back together in music and made no less than history as the Belleville Three. After scoring his first official release as part of Kreem on Atkins’ label Metroplex, Saunderson later set up his own imprint KMS in order to get his music out there.
In 1987, he went on to found the project Inter City that would eventually become Inner City, and push over six million units of its first release Big Fun. But Saunderson’s pop success did not dent his enthusiasm for underground, cutting-edge techno. He continued to release under a slew of pseudonyms such as E-dancer, Reese and Reese & Santonio, and rock floors all across the globe, keeping him in demand as a DJ to this very day. Here we caught him back to back with Derrick May.
As one third of the aforementioned Belleville Three Derrick May helped create the beast named techno that longed for a beauty called soul, ran the groundbreaking Transmat label and produced under a plethora of names, most notably Rhythim Is Rhythim. Strings Of Life being the quintessential track of that era, Mr Mayday is responsible for an armada of highly influential tunes that all mix and mingle industrial melancholy and romantic futurism.

Something about Radio Slave: No matter what sounds you profess to be your music of choice, chances are, that at some point over the last five years, you will have got your rocks off to Matt Edwards. As Matthew E he fashions club-based, dancefloor slayers. Under that aegis he’s updated the classic Chi-town, jackin’ sound beloved of house aficionados and layered it with fractured funk, belligerent, oddball beats and mechanical soul. If Matthew E is all about the Saturday Night Fever, then, by contrast, Rekid is the slower, more deliberate, rhythmical funk of the mid-week mayhem. Its well-intentioned muscular intensity making it perfect soulful sustenance.
Quiet Village is something else all together. A collaboration with long-time musical sparring partner Joel Martin (a vinyl freak, like Mr Edwards, who works in esteemed auction house Christie’s pop department), it’s sample-based music which veers from drawn out disco-not-disco delirium to evocative, under-stated soundscapes.
Sea Devils - you keeping up at the back? – is undeniable electronic pop brilliance. Working with Tom from Cagedbaby, it’s the least niche of Matt’s projects and thanks to Sea Devils alluring pop dance grooves they’ll no doubt be shagging the upper reaches of the hit parade sometime soon.
Something about Stacey Pullen: Stacey Pullen is the Kosmik Messenger. An innovator from the Second Wave of Detroit techno, he grew up under the mentorship of Detroit's legendary three: Derrick May, Juan Atkins and Kevin Saunderson. Still continuing to produce his characteristic atmosphere laden electronic sound, Stacey Pullen compounds his reputation as a producer with that of being one of the world's most in demand DJs, playing weekly across the globe year in, year out. With a font of passion for music and performance that never dries up, Stacey Pullen still plays every gig from the heart seeking to surprise and engage, to provide an unforgettable experience, to offer up his unique catalogue without predictability - defying expectation. Above all, from his earliest attempts to the current day Stacey Pullen has stayed true to his one goal: to become and to always be an Innovator.
From the age of 9, playing flute in his school band, Stacey has always been playing musical instruments. Throughout his school years, he developed a fantastic groundwork in analogue instruments and performance, moving from flute to his self-taught next choice of percussion. In his final years at school he found himself travelling around to a lot of cities in the USA playing in school bands, which gave him a taste of – and preparation for – the travelling involved in life as a musician. He had also seen and been prepared for a musician's life from watching his father who was in a Motown band called the Capitals in the 1970's, filling much of Stacey's childhood with observations of a life dedicated to music and travel.

Something about Joris Voorn: More recently, Joris has been focusing on collaborative efforts producing remixes for respected and diverse artistssuch as Robert Babicz, Nic Fanciulli, Slam, Steve Angello, Sebo K and Jerome Sydenham. The 'Dark Flower

In 2008, following the success of his resident advisor podcast, Joris was invited to produce episode 14 of the Balance DJ mix CD series from Australia. Something about Pete Tong: Pete's success as a broadcaster, clubland DJ and music industry tastemaker is his ability to create a balance between credibility and commerciality and it not afraid to drop the hits on the decks. "People forget it's entertainment," Pete explains. "I wouldn't be doing this if I couldn't champion new music, but a mix is the key. And it's supposed to be fun."
The dance market has changed a lot since Pete started, but one thing remains the same, people still want to go out and have a good time. "People love music, make no mistake about that, whether and how they buy it right now is one thing, but people still want to party...it's our job to come up with new parties, new nights, new venues, new themes to keep the scene fresh and exciting." says Tong.
In the meantime, the ever-active Pete still sees his vocation as he did when he started out, playing other people's records to get an audience dancing. "We need to constantly remember why people want to come to clubs - which is simply to have a great time and feel the music." With Tong behind the decks, there's little worry of failure on that score.

Ricardo Villalobos is a Chilean electronic music producer and DJ. He is well-known for his work in the minimal techno and microhouse genres.

Villalobos was born in the capital of Chile, Santiago, in the year 1970. However, at the age of three he moved to Germany with his family after General Augusto Pinochet overthrew the socialist government of Salvador Allende in 1973.
When Ricardo was around 10 or 11 he started to play conga and bongos. Though he loved music, he could never see himself as a musician. In the late eighties he began to make electronic music. From a very young age he has been a a big fan of Depeche Mode, even following their tours around Europe to listen to them.
Villalobos takes much of his inspiration from Depeche Mode, as well as other artists such as Daniel Miller, Thomas Melchior, Baby Ford, Daniel Bell and Andrew Weatherall. He has also taken inspiration from rhythmic South American music.
Villalobos began to play his music at parties while he was studying at university, but this was only for his own enjoyment. He started a label, Placid Flavour, in 1993 but this was unsuccessful. His first record was released on the German Playhouse label in 1994 and he began DJing as a professional in 1998, and is in present times regarded as one of the most important minimal DJs in Europe, alongside other talented chilean djs and producers such as Luciano Nicolet (an occasional collaborator) and Dandy Jack

As one manifestation of this, visitors to Düsseldorf were early 2008 able to see an exhibition of photographs taken by Loco Dice & Martin Buttrich during the year they spent in New York City to work on the Loco Dice album. It’s an album that re-imagines the soul of a city, built from careful observations of urban tribes that crisscross and sometimes clash, of minute details and sensory impressions.
Family is important to Loco Dice, as you might have noticed if you’ve seen one of his tattoos, a Chicano-style artwork with the legend “Guadelupe”. His love for music stems from hearing soul and funk in the kitchen, and holidays with his mother to Tunisia, where he absorbed North African and Middle Eastern folk music and occasionally sneaked away to watch his grandfather playing dice at café tables on the street. Family is how he’s always regarded the people close to him, and it’s how he regards subcultures too. As a football player, those who build strong teams of creative people around them inspire him.
This sense of family is what he wants to create with projects like his and Buttrich’s label Desolat, and an artist management agency he run with Tom Preuss called Artist Alife. When you visit the office of Desolat and Artist Alife, you’re struck by the fact that everyone seems to come from a different cultural background. Loco Dice’s experience of Germany is one that includes friends and collaborators, who are of African, Eastern European, Italian or Turkish descent. Loco Dice is interested in all kinds of people and artistic subcultures: he’s proud of people, who bring a creative flair to what they do, informed by lives lived ever so slightly less ordinary.
In that sense, Dice’s innate understanding of people: what they sense, what they feel, what they want to imagine, is a part of what distinguishes him from other DJs. He’s very aware when playing in Ibiza of the multiplicity of nationalities that are gathered there, the morass of different desires to be catered to. His inner film scriptwriter makes him capable of translating sounds and kicking it like a local, whether it’s in Naples or in New York. Loco Dice is similarly capable of inspiring, of creating that heady atmosphere that can only be experienced in a crowd of thousands. This skill of his, first cultivated at DC-10, is also no doubt informed by his experiences touring with big name hip hop artists in the ‘90s.
Mark Spoon used to promise him that at some point Loco Dice would shuffle sideways from his beloved house and hip hop to “come over and be one of us”, one of the techno believers. In a sense, he was right, though Loco Dice never leaves anything behind: he still brings out classics, whether classic techno from Maurizio to Basic Channel or gritty boompty house by DJ Sneak, and he’s still fond of composing music, as linear as it may be, that draws on hip hop song structures and basslines. At the end of the day, as Loco Dice sees it, everything runs in loops, and it’s his job to trace a line, to sketch out the next scenes in this soundtrack.
Even if life tends to be unpredictable, a little chancey, the next move doesn’t have to be a gamble. In fact, Loco Dice shows via his compositions that it can be very well planned. Listen to his music, imagine the cinematic accompaniments, and you’ll understand how something carefully constructed can begin with a flight of fancy, or a roll of the dice.

Richie Hawtin created a unique techno sound, which is regarded as synonymous with the city of Detroit. That sound, electro house, is very minimal, yet highly danceable. He is known for his use of the Roland TB-303 bass machine and that sound has become inseparable from quality acid house and electro recordings. These days, Hawtin kicks around with a TR-909 drum machine. Hawtin signed a record deal with Nova Mute in 1993, and is considered a star in Europe, where he has enjoyed success with his project, Plastikman.
In 1994, rumor has it that Hawtin was scheduled to perform at a rave held inside the Brooklyn Bridge. Allegedly, while crossing the border from Canada, guards stopped him, assuming he was attempting to work illegally in the US due to the massive amount of equipment in his car. Supposedly he went home and recorded a set to DAT and shipped it to the promoters. To this day, no one can say for certain whether that headlining slot was live or on tape.
Today, he has gained the respect of a larger US audience. In May 2000, Hawtin performed at the first Detroit Electronic Festival alongside Derrick May, Juan Atkins and other techno masterminds. More than 200,000 people attended from all over the world.

Marco Carola is a global ambassador of techno. From Napoli in the south of Italy, Marco was instrumental in the development of the electronic scene in the early 90s, he took the flourishing techno Neapolitan scene to the rest of the world. Over twenty years later and Marco is still one of the most respected artists amongst the techno scene, widely regarded as one of the key factors in driving the genre towards worldwide recognition within electronic music.
As a revered producer and successful label head, Marco has spearheaded imprints such as Design Music, Zenit, Question, One Thousands and Do.Mi.No whilst releasing music on a selection of the world’s finest labels such as Minus, Plus 8 2M and Primate Recordings. In addition to five critically acclaimed albums, including his most recent Play It Loud, Marco has also been responsible for a clutch of seminal mix compilations. In 2006, his mix for legendary London club Fabric’s series was a lesson in sleek, future-facing minimalism. That was followed up by well received compilations for Time Warp in 2009. In 2010 Cocoon label boss Sven Väth asked him to mix the Frankfurt based label’s Party Animals CD alongside Nick Curly, which took Carola's dj taste and skills to new heights.
Famed for his energetic and impressive three-deck style of mixing and long journey set, Marco has remained one of the most in demand DJs on the planet throughout the last two decades. Favoring mammoth eight hour plus sets, Marco is predisposed to a subtle working of the crowd that has made him a favorite among fans from Ibiza to New York, South America and beyond.

Dubfire’s “jet-black, polished-chrome techno” of 2009 harnesses three and a half years of upward momentum, highlighted by notable productions and remixes landing at the top of "best of" charts and set lists the world over. 2009’s "Split the Line [Dubfire Mega Remix]," an alchemic symbiosis of Paul Ritch’s "Split" and "Walk the Line," best exemplifies the dark and evocative sound Dubfire has cultivated since embarking on his solo journey.
In 2006 - after 15 ground-breaking years topping charts, winning Grammys, and earning acclaim as one-half of legendary electronic partnership Deep Dish - Dubfire returned to his roots: a diverse foundation spanning punk, industrial/new wave, jazz, dub, hip-hop, house and techno. "I Feel Speed," his first solo release, is a remake of the classic Love and Rockets track with Dubfire himself on vocals. It marked a musical crossroads in his passage towards a deeper and darker sound. As Dubfire's productions delved into techno's moodier, sonically edgy dimensions, critics and fans alike celebrated the new direction with admiration and enthusiasm.
An avalanche of accolades made tracks like "Roadkill" and "RibCage" instant techno classics upon release. Covers on Raveline, DJ Magazine and countless other respected music journals; an invitation to mix the covermount CD for Mixmag and DJ; an Essential Mix for the UK's Radio One; and glowing write-ups from Beatportal and Resident Advisor are just a small taste of the universal acclaim and rave reception. A barrage of remixes and productions on respected labels—including Cocoon, Get Physical, Minus, and Rekids—inspired the electronic dance music world, earning Dubfire praise from both DJs and producers as "the DJ’s DJ" as well as top to bottom praise from a myriad of online and offline music critics and fans.
By the end of 2007, Dubfire cemented his standing among the most forward-thinking artists with a slew of notable honors, including two Top 10 placements on Resident Advisor's "100 Most Charted Records of 2007" and the DJ Award for "Best Tech House DJ." At the 2008 Beatport Awards, fans singled out Dubfire as both "Best Minimal Artist" and "Best Techno Artist" - the latter a prized honor he would earn once again in 2009. Other celebrated industry nods in 2008 include the IDJ "Player of the Year" Award and "Best Remix" awards - for the dark anthem "Grindhouse [Dubfire Terror Planet Mix]" - from both Groove Magazine and Raveline Magazine. Dubfire also graced Raveline Magazine's "Top 10 International DJs" and "Top 10 Producers" polls in 2008.
Envisioning a launching pad for his own productions while nurturing fresh talent worldwide, Dubfire took another bold leap forward, launching his own label, Science + Technology Digital Audio. SCI+TEC rapidly built a die-hard fan base thanks to well-received tracks by innovative new players like Delete, Paul Ritch, Rocha & Lewinger, and The Dolphins. In March 2009, Dubfire presented his sonic vision for SCI+TEC with a DJ Mag covermount titled "Past, Present, and Future," revealing a personal mix of SCI+TEC's best and brightest. To date, the label's roster proudly encompasses a powerful mix of marquee players and hungry newcomers.
A thriving production partnership with techno maestro Oliver Huntemann was born in 2008 and continues into 2009 with a host of productions sure to bring the electronic dance scene to its knees with each release. Initially collaborating with an ocean between them, the duo released two massive dance floor hits: "Diablo" and "Dios." Anticipation for the Fall 2009 release of "Fuego" - the third installment of this powerhouse alliance - is at fever pitch.
As his productions and remixes garnered massive popularity - 8 are listed on Beatport’s "Best of DJ Charts, 2009" - Dubfire's goodwill among critics and fans steamrolled into 2009 unabated. "Split the Line" remains one of Beatport's top sellers. "Ten Years Cocoon Ibiza," a two-disc compilation [co-mixed with Loco Dice] met with further rapturous reception, further whetting fans' fervent appetites for the appropriately titled "Rabid," which was released in September.
Amongst his contemporaries, Dubfire remains a unique DJ, producer, and remixer - eager to hone and further evolve his signature sound. With an unmatched hunger to conquer the latest frontiers in electronic dance music and its rapidly changing technology, Dubfire delivers the unexpected and has no intention of slowing down.
