Something about Stephan Bodzin:
Born in the northern German countryside in 1969, Stephan Bodzin started dabbling in music at an early age due to his father, also an artist and musician, whose studio contained all the magic sound-machines like the ARP2600, Memorymoog, Polysix and many others (today’s producers only know them as software-plug-ins).

No wonder Stephan was heavily fascinated by the idea of electronic music as a little kid and soon founded his own projects as a piano and bass player. After finding out, that none of his band members (including himself) were able to play as tight as the legendary Korg M1 sequencer, Stephan came to the point where he preferred to substitute all “real” musicians with “virtual” musicians in his studio. At the tender age of 17 he bought his first Atari computer and the story began…

After moving to the big city of Bremen, where Stephan steadily kept on to improving & built up his studio set-up, he got in touch with the experimental theatre scene and began to finding own platform to express his artistic and musical visions in compositions for several plays (including works for the established Goethe Theatre in Bremen and the infamous Ikarus Dancing-Theatre from Austria).

But Bodzin never lost his love for pure analogue & electronic music. He put together his first club tracks, which directly got “road-tested” by his brother Oliver, who was a house DJ back then. Around that time he got to know “Humate” member Oliver Huntemann and a long term friendship and work relationship took off. In the following 10 years, they produced various projects like Marc Romboy, Thomas Schumacher, Elektrochemie, H-Man or Oliver Huntemann and did countless remixes for artists like Binary Finary, Frankie Goes To Hollywood or Sinead O’Connor. Furthermore Stephan created the two internationally successful solo projects Condor and Boca.

In December 2004, his friend and global techno player Thomas Schumacher asked him to produce Electrochemie, Schumacher’s project with his girlfriend Caitlin Devlin, and his own “Schumacher” tracks. The outcome of those collabos, released on the labels Get Phyical and Spiel-Zeug Schallplatten, struck the worldwide club-scene like a bomb, nonetheless because of Stephan’s special skills, which can also be heard in the two albums of both projects, which will be released in 2006.
In 2005 Mr. Bodzin, started concentrating on his own career. The Solo-Single “Caligula / Marathon Man”, which came out on Systematic in December 2005 was his first step into the spotlight and created global interest in the artist Stephan Bodzin. Another big thing was his production work with Mr. Systematic Marc Romboy, which resulted in their Luna EP on Systematic and the tracks “House Ya” and “Jigsaw”, for Romboy’s debut LP “Gemini”.

The List of labels, which released Bodzin productions in 2005 & 2006 reads like the “who's who” in the innovative club music scene: Get Physical, Datapunk, International Deejay Gigolo, Systematic, Giant Wheel, Spiel-Zeug Schallplatten, Confused, Dance Electric and Great Stuff.

At the moment Stephan Bodzin is busy starting up his own label with the helping hand of label-god Jan Langer and he’s preparing a second career as a DJ and Live Act!

There is no stopping and the journey has just begun!.. and keep on watching the small printed credits on the records, it could be Stephan Bodzin!

Something about Brodinski:
"Brodinski is the most exciting dj and producer to explode onto the scene in recent years. Yes, he may hail from France (Reims, Lille) but he is quite unlike any of his Parisian peers. His taste in music is broad and this is reflected in his own productions and dj sets which may encompass noisy techno, bass heavy house through to more melodic minimal. His programming is impeccable and he plays with such spirit that his 6'2'rame jerks and bounces when he gets excited by a track (yet he is neveruelled with anything more than Fanta Lemon!). The hot fuss started with his debut track Bad Runner which leaked onto blog sites months before it's release on Mental Groove in October 2007. Supported by everyone from Soulwax, Tiga, Chloe, Erol Alkan, A Trak, Busy P, Switch and Laurent Garnier the track peak time techno with Martian's yakking through it was one of the sleeper hits of the year. When it was eventually released the subject 'Bad Runner' had garnered over 3500 views on Erol Alkan's forum, people just couldn't wait to get their hands on it. The flipside Solaris was a more subtle and seductive slice of techno. At the time Brodinski told FACT magazine that he would like to record for both Erol Alkan and Damian Lazarus' labels and this record seemed to sum up that ambition. Since Bad Runner Brodinski has remixed Bonde de Role, Klaxons, Das Pop, Shoes, D.I.M, Heart Revolutions and Adam Sky. Each remix has had a different approach, from the acidic (D.I.M), to vocal techno (Das Pop) to melancholic end-of-nighters (Klaxons). This May he has two releases readied to rock the summer: Gold-digger which is a primitive house groove with ululating sirens and vocal gruntsollowed by an as yet untitled techno bomb. Brodinski has already been championed by Radio Soulwax, Tiga's Turbo and Bugged Out who have all already offered him multiple gigs and festival slotsor 2008. Expect to be hearing a lot more about Brodinski this year and beyond!"(Annie Mac)

Something about Lutzenkirchen:
Men of the moment and favours of the month come and go, as the phrases suggest. It’s relatively easy to get a short-term buzz in dance music – but in these days of limitless downloads and increasing disposability, few hotshots have got it what it takes to go the distance. Lützenkirchen is one name that refuse to go away. Munich’s foremost electro-techno exponent has moved effortlessly between underground and overground success in recent years – scoring a German Top 10 chart hit with the huge 3 Tage Wach while putting out a prolific, consistent stream of cool and credible club tracks, all a decade after he first began producing.

From his huge remixes for the likes of John Digweed and Coburn to his outstanding 2008 artist album Pandora Electronica, the power and quality of his productions rarely slip. Meanwhile his acclaimed live sets
continue to grow in reputation, his charismatic stage presence bringing a breath of fresh air to the usual limp and lifeless laptop workout. Tobias Lützenkirchen’s roots in the music game go way back to 1992,
when he first appeared on record as singer. After immersing himself in his love dance music by working as a promoter in Ibiza in 1995, he worked as a professional background vocalist and songwriter on some major projects from 1996 to 1999, before succumbing to the house and techno bug that had been slowly consuming him. Some 20+ aliases, artist names and collaborative groups later, Lützenkirchen was born in 2005 – the name with which he would finally become a global star. Blending infectious, jacking techno grooves with dirty electro sounds and dashes of house, his sounds is electronic as they come, but with a real sense of funk that makes his music accessible to a wide range of DJs, clubbers and part-time dance music enthusiasts. He doesn’t follow the musical crowd – but that’s not to say that he doesn’t know how to keep the music fresh. Continually striving to innovative and evolve his sound, you can always count on him to push things forward – rather than copying the latest hotshot or ripping off endless old records.

He only began his DJ career in 2006, when the success of his productions began to bring booking requests from around the world, and by 2008 he had switched to performing pure live sets. But whether he’s playing to 300 people in a sweaty provincial German nightclub, or to 35,000 at a huge festival, his enthusiasm and passion are the same. The last two years have seen him play in every continent at least twice, with 8 tours of Brazil in the past 3 years alone. Despite this heavy travel schedule, he remains
one of the most prolific producers around – with a level of quality that few can match. He’s not about hype, trends, fads or jumping on bandwagons – Lützenkirchen lets his music speak for itself. And 10 years on, it’s still telling quite a story…

Something about Speedy J:
Jochem Paap (the Rotterdam artist owes the nickname Speedy J to his DJ skills) is unanimously considered to be one of the first techno producers to come from the Benelux. Together with people like Laurent Garnier, Aphex Twin and Richie Hawtin he helped raising the genre just after it had escaped the Detroit delivery room.
Since the early nineties, Speedy J releases on labels like Plus 8, Warp and Novamute. But while techno develops into a dominating force on many dance floors worldwide, Jochem Paap, after the albums G Spot (1993) and Ginger (1995), turns left and heads for other exciting places.
On Public Energy No. 1 (1997) and A Shocking Hobby (2000) the sound wizard exchanges flowing, harmonious techno for a much more complex sound, filled with colliding samples, crackling rhythms and tremendously thrilling turns.
After fifteen years of techno Speedy J now has come full circle. But what a wide circle it was, and how fickle the trodden path. Over the years he has collaborated with video-artists, filmmakers and advertisers, made the pioneering DVD Umfeld, an audio-visual, electronic trip, which sets the standard for many composers who want to compose for six speakers in the coming years – remarkably made available as a free download on the internet.
But not only that, Speedy J has continuously been pushing the boundaries of electronic & experimental dance music. Blurring the lines between Live performance and Digital Djing, he fuses subversive electronics and peak time Techno. Together with his partner in crime Chris Liebing he started using Traktor and other Software technology on 4 laptops with hardware such as Machine Drum and 303’s to create a fully integrated set. Again he is spearheading a way of DJing that is picked up by a lot of other forward thinking electronic artists.
Logically, the releases on his label Electric Deluxe all feature tool versions, introducing the concept of creating unique live sets from parts as a natural evolution of Djing. Not only setting the bar for peak hour Techno madness, Electric Deluxe becomes the platform for his Collabs series that started on Novamute, as well as releases by open minded artists like Chris Liebing, George Issakidis, Tommy Four Seven and Terrence Fixmer to showcase the value of creative synergy using newest technology.
Another strong part of this idea is the introduction of a new series of techno events called Electric Deluxe presents, which in a young history of just a couple of editions brought major artists like Richie Hawtin, Marco Carola, Radio Slave, Matthew Dear, Chris Liebing into play.
Speedy J’s musical vision is genre blurring, creative freedom at the highest level of innovation and quality, it is providing a platform for artists operating within any conceivable genre in the broad spectrum of techno to fully explore and embrace the ever-expanding technological possibilities.

Something about Joachim Spieth:
As „very charming minimal house with black forest funk“ a reviewer from the United States once assessed the first publication of Joachim Spieth. Abi 99” appeared at “Kompakt”, which combined the outrider labels of german minimal techno, “Profan” and “Studio 1”. When the exceptional british dj and cult presenter John Peel played the maxi shortly after its release in his legendary radio show, it became clear that the five years of research with synths and drum machines had been worth while.
In 2003 the Orb-mastermind Dr. Alex Patterson takes the track “You don’t fool me” onto his “Back to mine” compilation, as Joachim deals with the eighth part of the “Speicher” series on the side of “Kompakt” ceo Michael Mayer, and moves forward with the track “Under Pressure”. Even Sven Väth notes the benevolent on his playlist. Miscellaneous remixes follow (for Michael Mayer, Def Jaguar, Einmusik, Maxime Dangles, Guy J etc.), as well as 12" "Up and Down" on "Tongut", "Connect" on "Paso Music" and several compilation licensing for example on Gui Boratto's "Addicted Vol 2" (2007) or Ivan Smagghe's "Cocorico 03" (2008) and a number of engagements as a dj - a side of Joachim that not very many knew about until then. In the past two or three years that has drastically changed. He's travelled in germany and europe, where he usually chose the narrow path between harsher house and rather minimalistic techno, with which he succeeded well. Since 2007 Spieth hosts "Affin, a monthly show on Protonradio/USA and also becomes part of Paso Music. In January 2008 Spieth launches his new label Affin.

Uros Umek is internationally acclaimed deejay and music producer from Slovenia, seducing the masses with his own music blend for more than a decade. Always on the look for new sounds and determined to challenge every existing cliché in music industry, he managed to define his own vision of vanguard techno. Sure, this would not happen without the support of his loyal peers who’ve joined him on the production platforms such as Recycled Loops, Consumer Recreation and Astrodisco, with which they defined “Slovenian techno sound” and successfully it as an important driving force on the global club scene.

He started his journey to the stardome as an excellent athlete, running between two baskets, but it was Euterpe the Muse of music and poetry that paved Umek’s life-path. She got him totally unprepared, seduced him with no further notice, so he had no chance of getting out of her treads. He devoted his life, his heart, all of his passion and energy, to the sounds he discovered as a teenager. Pioneering the genre he became one of its most appreciated ambassadors with faithful worldwide audience simply known as The Father (of Slovenian techno).

Sleeping on past achievements was never Umek’s thing. So it’s no surprise he decided for complete renovation of his sound and live set performance though being steady member of Top 100 DJ lists for almost a decade. The year 2007 marks beginning of a new chapter in his music career. After spending enormous amount of time and artistic energy bringing his characteristic sound to the whole new level, he presented new international music therapy called 1605 – Sixteenofive. No doubt this was a very risky move. But it was the only way for him to stay on top of the game. And it seems he made the right decision at the crucial time: the response to his new vision of electronic dance music from his peers, critics, media and most importantly his fans is great and his production is supported by some top names in the industry.

The sound of the fourth session (Cocoon Recordings).

Biography of Oxia:
Olivier Raymond, born in 1971 in Grenoble (France), got into “black music” (disco & funk) already in his early teens. During college years, Olivier’s friendship with Stéphane Deschezeaux, kick started a musical journey, with a debut on a local radio station broadcasting a show dedicated to Funk … hence, only being 15 years of age, Olivier had started mixing. Olivier’s mixes were influenced by a large spectrum of music styles: electro-funk (Afrika Bambaata…), italo-disco, new-wave (Depeche Mode, New Order… ) and the early Chicago and New-York house scene.

By 1991, Stephane and Olivier bought their first bits of equipment and started to compose music. Not too long after that, Olivier became a resident dj at a club in Grenoble, jump starting a career in electronic music! It was by 1994, that the experiments of Stephane and Olivier became official. Their live act ‘Oxia’ was born. In 1995, Olivier and Stéphane met Michel Amato (The Hacker), Alex Reynaud and Kiko in Grenoble, the electronic-tuned city of France. That same year Olivier created Ozone records together with Kiko, where Oxia released the first EP (influenced by the American techno sound like Jeff Mills, Robert Hood and Damon Wild). On that same stamp, Olivier also co-produced the first releases of Jack de Marseille.

Olivier never rested and went on to create a new label with Michel Amato aka The Hacker and Alexandre Reynaud in 1998. They baptized it ‘Goodlife’ in homage to the mythical Inner City track.

Olivier and Stéphane still produced several EP’s together and by the end of the century they decided to part paths (as good friends) and Olivier continued with Oxia as solo DJ act.

Oxia’s continued sound evolution gave birth to a series of EP’s & remixes on Goodlife but also on labels such as Intec, Terminal M, … leading to a worldwide dj diary. The excelling dj qualities were captured in several mix cds, and that’s not all. A page still unfolding, Oxia released his debut solo album ‘24 HEURES’ on Goodlife in 2004 that floats between groovy melodic techno and a deeper electro touch. Besides the major international press attention, ’24 Heures’ reached he n°5 in the category ‘best album’ by the readers of Trax magazine.

After an extended period of touring, Oxia returned with some A class releases & remixes in 2006. ‘Domino’, on the German Kompakt stamp, became a worldwide hit played by every DJ you can think of. More Oxia releases for the English Tsuba stamp (collaboration with Eric Borgo), Confused (collaboration with Gino’s) and another banger on Kompakt (‘Not Sure’). The new release on his Goodlife stamp (‘Lost Memory’) finally came in December 2007. The icing on the cake came in 2008 when Oxia got voted in second & third spot in the Beatport Music Awards ‘Best Remix’ (Oxia remix for Butch ‘On the line’) and Best Techno Artist. The list of remix requests got longer as Oxia remixed the likes of Agoria, Smith & Selway, Marc Romboy to name a few. As you can imagine, this contributed to a busy dj schedule which even got more intense by the vibrant dj battle done with his good friend Agoria.

In 2009 Oxia did not shy from releasing some more fine material. In October the ‘Sun Step’ EP was released on 8Bit record reaching immediately top rates in charts like Beatport, Resident Advisor, etc. He also mixed the fifth anniversary compilation of Systematic (a selection of tracks exclusive to the Systematic compilation), including a previously unreleased track produced with his friend Nicolas Masseyeff (‘Trying Out’).

After so many years in the game, Oxia is still at the forefront of the international electronic scene, never losing sight of all influences he had along the way and keeping one strong element in his music, and that is groove!

Something about Lutzenkirchen:

Men of the moment and favours of the month come and go, as the phrases suggest. It’s relatively easy to get a short-term buzz in dance music, but in these days of limitless downloads and increasing disposability, few hotshots have got it what it takes to go the distance. Meanwhile his acclaimed live sets continue to grow in reputation, his charismatic stage presence bringing a breath of fresh air to the usual limp and lifeless laptop workout.

Tobias Lützenkirchen’s roots in the music game go way back to 1992, when he first appeared on record as singer.

As an important platform for his music Martin Eyerer has founded his own labels - Kling Klong and Session Deluxe. Due to the conscientious release policy (releasing artists like Koletzki, Namito, Oliver Klein, Babicz and Eyerer himself the Label boss was able to establish an independent sound between electro, minimal and tech-house on Kling Klong and more tooly, housy and underground on Session Deluxe. Releases of both Labels always enter the top 20 of all sales and download charts for electronic music.

Peak time is the best time in a DJ-set, but in Martin Eyerers opinion, you have to work for it as a DJ - there is no way to force it. With that philosophy he builds up his sets, using the newest material and unfolds an oppressive, sizable Groove. Martin Eyerer does not try to get through the night with the current hits. Instead, he travels his very own sound-spectrum in one intuitively construed DJ-set. These legendary sets make their way around the globe resulting in Martin playing regularly in all parts of the world.

But Martin wants to reach more people than only those who frequent nightclubs. Thats why he regularly works on mix compilations, e.g. his own series on Session Deluxe. He has also set up same called Session De Luxe a national weekly radio-show that goes out live every Sunday evening on Sunshine live - Germanys biggest station for dance music, and its on this platform that Eyerer presents all the latest releases for his hungry following to devour as they polish of their weekends activities on sofas, in bedrooms or in the car on their way home after visiting their parents for Sunday lunch in the country. By himself or with guests like e.g. Bodzin, Anthony Rother, Chardronnet, Huntemann, Gregor Tresher, Abe Duque, Thomas Schumacher, John Selway or Shlomi Aber, Session de Luxe never disappoints. But not only are the monologues important - Martin also involves the listeners, giving everyone the chance to ask questions about anything concerning dance music.

As with most DJs, Cari got his initial exposure performing at a variety of local venues, primarily at events in Stockholm, where he also organized his own nights on occasion. His first booking abroad was in nearby Helsinki towards the end of 1993 and was an important step in his young career; he had already realized that to seriously pursue his music career he would need to ultimately establish himself internationally, as his underground sound wouldn’t be viable in Sweden alone.

The following year he made his debut in other European countries such as Germany, France and Italy as his tour schedule steadily grew. It was a breakthrough year in his career with the first releases on his inaugural label – Hybrid Sound Architectures, which later became known as H. Productions (a.k.a. H-Prod). He also had releases on another notable Swedish label at the time under his Vector and Rotortype monikers - Planet Rhythm. During this period Cari continued to expand his studio, known as HP HQ (H. Productions Headquarters) by enhancing his collection of various electronic gear including drum machines, audio processors and synthesizers. The launch of his own imprint enabled him to delve into his creative freedom at the utmost level of innovation and quality, acting as a core platform for his artistic visions. His efforts in the studio at the time came to fruition as numerous other pseudonyms were unveiled throughout this period including Phunkey Rhythm Doctor, Agent Orange, Mr. Barth and Braincell.

Shortly afterwards his productions began appearing on other influential Swedish labels such as Adam Beyer’s Code Red, Truesoul and Drumcode, something which continued over the next decade as fellow compatriots continued to make their mark globally launching scores of other labels such as Jericho, Corb, Loop/Plumphouse and Svek. Frequent collaborations with other artists occurred at the time not only in the studio but also while on tour, either alongside countrymen during label nights or for select tours such as with Adam Beyer in 1998, which showcased a rare live performance to audiences on multiple continents.

Subsequent years were peppered with many notable career highlights at the time including his first appearances in Asia and Australia, several North American tours plus an assortment of releases that garnered wide critical acclaim and helped to inspire a generation of producers. During the last half of that decade, Cari was a key ambassador in exporting the techno beats that proliferated from his homeland, a term which was then aptly coined by many as ‘Swedish Techno’.

In addition to many other various label projects Cari has been involved with, he has continued to evolve the H. Production family of labels which ultimately led to the creation of Kaun Trax, Djupt, Audio Mekanixc, KGB, Trainspotters Nightmare, Audio Pollution and Grundtakt - an experimental hip hop label.

After close to two decades in this highly competitive industry, his success is hardly ephemeral. He has been invited to perform regularly at many of the highest profile techno clubs and events around the globe, including Awakenings, Fuse, Tresor, Fabric, Berghain, Omen, E-Werk, Avalon, U60311, The End, Cocoon at Amnesia, Fabrik, Rex Club, Liquid Room, F135, Sona, Twilo, Rohstofflager, plus well-known festivals such as I Love Techno, Time Warp, May Day, Awakenings and Nature One.

An impressive repertoire of releases to date have materialized from his HP HQ studio and permeated into the crates of the global electronic music community. Cari’s work has also been featured on a myriad of labels in addition to his own reflecting an array of genres, including releases on Swedish imprints such as Drumcode, Code Red, Truesoul, Jericho and Corb, plus tracks on other prominent labels such as Novamute, Soma, Primevil, Masters of Disaster, Fine Audio Recording, Harthouse and Turbo to name a few. Various studio projects over the years ranging from techno to hip hop have also seen him collaborate with a number of producers including childhood compatriots Alexi Delano and Fredrik Almquist aka RND as well as others such as Jesper Dahlbäck, Robert Leiner, Damon Wild, Oliver Bondzio and Dan Zamani.

With a steady stream of releases and a perpetual global tour schedule, Cari shows no signs of hanging up the headphones any time soon; even at the height of his career he continues to hone his craft daily, previously citing: “I try to make music regularly and try to constantly figure out new things. I reckon it’s like science, you need to do it every day to continue evolving”. Much like his evolution as an artist, in more recent years he has also expanded his H-Prod company to include a graphic design venture with further plans on the horizon as his company and career continue to develop, potentially into the cinema and videogame realm. He has come a long way in his career from his humble beginnings many years ago and one can presume that Cari will work diligently to achieve his future plans with the quiet confidence he has exuded throughout his career.

Bob Dylan once said that a man is a success if he gets up in the morning and gets to bed at night, and in between he does what he wants to do. And by that measure Cari Lekebusch has undoubtedly triumphed.
