Something about Alexi Delano: Alexi Delano dwells in the perfect balance between shiny minimalism and dark vivacious techno. With more than two decades on stage he has been able to combine different roots and facets of the contemporary music scale.
Alexi is intimately linked to the Plus 8, Clink Rec and Truesoul labels and each one of his projects has been leaving foot prints on the minimal/techno scene. He performs constantly in clubs around the world and in prestigious events.
Born in Chile but raised in Sweden, Alexi, with fellow Swedes like Cari Lekebusch, Adam Beyer, Jesper Dahlback, Joel Mull and others
Something about Camea: Camea was born and raised in the Seattle music scene as a pianist and lover of all genres of music. In her youth she studied both classical and jazz theory as well as dance, and spent a lot of time playing in bands. Later in her teens she fell into the Seattle grunge and rock trends, but her lifestyle quickly changed when she discovered electronic music and bought turntables in 1999. After spending a few years perusing local record stores, Camea began to collect labels like Perlon, Playhouse and Minus. This eventually led her to the artistically thriving city of Brooklyn, NY, where she moved in 2002, immediately immersing herself in the city’s music scene. Brooklyn’s intense artistic environment became a magical time for her, as this is where she discovered an abundance of new music and met Ambivalent, Alexi Delano, Tim Xavier, and Tony Rohr and spawned Clink Recordings, launching her career as an International DJ by 2005. Soon after her tour schedule became worldwide, and two years later she relocated to Berlin where she resides today.
Something about Ambivalent: Currently working out of Berlin, Kevin McHugh has spent the last decade living in the German capital or New York and in a sense; these two metropoleis represent the contradiction at the heart of his Ambivalent persona. On the one hand the reckless freedom and hedonism of the Berlin subculture, on the other the more considered, conceptual approach of its New York counterpart. As a result his idiosyncratic sound lies somewhere between the two, a precarious balancing act that manages to infuse stripped down, finked up minimal techno with a distinct sense of purpose, often defined by a pearl of an idea around which his skeletal grooves revolve.

Somewhere amidst his heady summer schedule, Hypercolour co-creator Alex Jones has created a new and exclusive mix for our blog (Fabric Blog), set to guide us ever closer for his label’s next journey to Farringdon this Saturday. It’s another example of how the Hypercolour vision was created at silly o’ clock in the morning around the infamous glass table, an object which a Hypercolour sub label is named after.

You’ll hear that late night curveball influence in this mix, with the off-centre kilt they’ve spun into the A&R of the imprint making itself known more intensely. Plus there’s no tracklisting so who knows what unreleased gems Mr. Jones has loaded in store for us...
Alex Jones will be playing in Room Three this Saturday with Huxley, Cedric Jones and Ste Roberts as Hypercolour host the room.

The last time Stacey Pullen played for us a year ago in Room Two, he was looking at his watch, not because he was ready to stop but to see how long he could keep going. Following in the masterstroke stakes of his Detroit techno peers like Kevin Saunderson and Derrick May, who he regards as next-level inspiration in his extended sets - Stacey may be from the same school of Detroit hard knocks but he's in a calibre all his own. One of our favourite things to do in the disco is watch him be spontaneous, unpredictable and potentially explosive in mammoth sets, channelling an appreciation for the timeless sounds of Detroit techno old and new and no doubt he’ll be defying our expectations once again next Saturday night next to Terry Francis.
As ever, we love speaking to Stacey about his achievements past and present and you can read on for all the latest. To say we’re powerless to his new promo mix of pummelling and expertly contoured state-of-the-art techno doesn't even cut it. Get on the download here first and prepare to be rumbled out of your chair.

Hailing from The Hague, Makam was in a prime location for world class techno talents who would regularly install their sound in the culturally vibrant city. From a very young age he took advantage of these parties which instantly ignited a passion within him that quickly led to him developing his DJ craft and taking his first steps in music production – he was helped along the way by sympathetic parents who were themselves well versed in house music culture. Though he’s been DJing for a full 10 years now, his first release came just two years ago on Sushitech and it quickly caught the attention of music writers going so far as to anoint him with the accolade of vinyl release of the year in Germany’s de:Bug publication for his record ‘How Long Is Now’.
He’s been a frequenter of fabric for some time now so we we’re more than happy to get to know the producer better and share his exclusive Promo Mix, which encapsulates his party spirit from his first love of hardcore to his most recent house cuts, with the world.

Last year Glasgow’s premier techno exports Slam celebrated 20 years of their label Soma via events around the world, releases and some special happenings right here on our blog. Now in their 21st year the label continues to be a home to the established sound of the likes of The Black Dog and Gary Beck but also continues to follow it’s keen ear for the up and coming end of electronic music talent.
This Saturday they’re joining Terry Francis in Room Two for a special extended set - a chance to deeper explore the possible dynamics of their DJ facilities. While the duo normally live up to their onomatopoeic moniker in their production, they’re also known for letting the more hypnotic recesses of house free - as they show for us in this promo mix ahead of their next visit to Farringdon this weekend.

The last few years have been the most prolific period in Slam’s career. Performing dynamic sets at many leading festivals including Time Warp, Mayday, Bestival, Glade, Awakenings, Glastonbury, Monegros and T In The Park, they have also played at some of the world’s best clubs including the legendary Womb in Tokyo, Cocoon in Frankfurt, Rex in Paris and Berlin's infamous Watergate and Berghain. Their Soma Records label hit its 20th birthday in 2011, which is a great achievement in any industry never mind the fickle music business. In this prestigious year, Slam were also nominated as the ‘Greatest Dance Act of All Time’ in the institutional UK dance music magazine Mixmag.

Magda is an artist who can never be pinned down, no matter the timeframe or time signature. Any one of the Detroit-raised/Berlin-based artist's DJ sets or productions breeds a rare feel of mystique and discovery. "I'm really obsessed with finding a line between things - between sounds and between genres. My influences come from a life spent in very different environments, which plays a huge role in the way I connect with music."

Dramatic sounds and eccentric basslines carry her multilayered sound, which veers everywhere from funked-out space disco to the intricately-programmed, metallic feel of Detroit to stripped down techno, all the way to Italian horror film soundtracks. The only thing that remains consistent is the element of surprise.

Her accidental entry into Detroit's underground party scene as a teenager was the kick-start she needed for a lifelong love affair. Soon all became a blur of "cities, record stores, and parties." In 1998, she joined Minus and began touring the world as Richie Hawtin's sole opener. From there, her distinctive sound began to develop and the rest is history.

Stylistically, Magda grooves through opposition - creating sets that are emotion-led yet clinical, having profound expertise with analog and digital technology. Her sound is otherworldly but visceral; dark with a warm sense of beauty and grace; sparse yet wondrously full-bodied with density and bass-swathed extremes. Magda's DJing style has been encapsulated on her mixed CDs 'She's A Dancing Machine,' and her mix for London club Fabric 'Fabric 49' (a mix CD with as much artistry and vision as an original album).

In the fall of 2010, Magda revealed her debut, 'From The Fallen Page,' a darkly- tinged, transportive album that curiously combines natural, organic sounds, and modern electronic grace. Similar to her unpredictable DJ sets, 'From The Fallen Page' took listeners from one end of the spectrum to the other, treading the fine lines of extremities along the way.

These days, though living in Berlin, Magda isn't home very often. In-between touring, she's fully focused on her recently resurrected label 'Items & Things.' The label's vision always pinpoints the off-kilter and the uncommon, seeking out new artists and sounds that push boundaries. "Items and things are bits and pieces of uniqueness we come across. The label is a platform to launch the music that we love. There are no rules, just sounds we like and artists we believe in."

This Saturday we’re welcoming back one of our oldest friends, Steve Bug. Known to some of you as ‘The General’ and to the wider world as the boss of mega-acclaimed Poker Flat records, Bug’s been steering the imprint since its inception back in 1999. Having made its name in the belly of the minimal and tech house movements Poker Flat is more than that, it’s a label of many facets. Bug harnesses a passion for all shades of house, making a point to look back as well to the future for his label’s projects. Take last year’s ‘Forward To The Past’ compilation, a twelve track collection that invited artists like Deetron, Neville Watson, Snuff Crew and Redshape to indulge their personal affections for 90s house sounds, and then consider that against ‘Gunslingers and Greenhorns’ a compilation release specifically to showcase the work of artists who were new to the label.
It’s this variation in sound that makes Bug’s sets timeless and charismatic, something that discerning crowds all over the world demand and it’s something you can check for yourselves in his new and exclusive mix made to commemorate this performance where the General will be sharing the limelight with Craig Richards and Kate Simko.

Someting about Funk D'Void:
Lars Sandberg AKA Funk D'Void, is a DJ and producer who has been at the forefront of the global electronic music scene since the mid-90s. He started Djing at around the tender age of 15, running two under-18 clubs himself – a perfect start to his career. Knowing his vocation to music from an early age after being brought up by his professional pianist mother, Lars never had any doubt as to where his future would lie.
House music changed his life, the early Chicago sound specifically, and hearing the certain sounds during his childhood stirred something inside him; the 808 drum machine used on Marvin Gaye's “Sexual Healing” secured his fascination with these electronic sounds – the turning point over to the Detroit techno sound was almost a spiritual moment as it forged his unique sound that would follow over the coming years – visceral, soulful and without compromise.
After a string of hits over the years (“Jack Me Off”, “Bad Coffee” “Emotional Content”) plus some killer remixes for the likes of Underworld, New Order and Kevin Saunderson, he is probably best known for the end-of-nighter 'Diabla' which bridged house and techno (and was flogged by everyone from Danny Howells to Sven Vath). And if you look carefully, recently you’ll also spy the name ‘L. Sandberg’ in the liner notes of releases by "newcomer" Francois Dubois, whose “Blood” and “I Try” were huge underground hits of 2006 and 2007 respectively.
Much in demand DJ and critically acclaimed producer, his Djing style is everything you expect a true music lover’s taste to be: he is comfortable and adept at moving any dancefloor, the proof being that he is one of the busiest Djs on the circuit today, and has been for the last decade.
